From Concept to Success: The Moment Mrs Gwen Found Her Business Niche
Many people have business ideas, but few put them into action. Here's the story of how we launched our lace wig business. In 2008, Mrs Gwen founded her lace wig business with the goal of selling lace wigs. However, at the time, very few people knew about lace wigs or how to install them. Although there was interest in the product, potential customers were hesitant to make a purchase without someone to install the wig for them.
Since lace wigs were a new concept in our city, no one had experience installing them. This is when Mrs Gwen realized that in order to sell the lace wigs, she had to learn to install them herself. After mastering the lace wig installation skills, the business took off at a rapid pace.
The Story of Jones Spot LLC's Founder, Mrs. Gwen
In 2013, Mrs. Gwen, the founder of Jones Spot LLC, branded her already successful lace wig business under the DBA name The Boss Hair. She enjoyed several years of prosperity in her lace wig business without any competition. Although other businesses eventually followed in her footsteps, there was still space for everyone to flourish. After more than a decade of handling all of her clients alone, Mrs. Gwen was elated when others began their own businesses. It was simply too much for her to handle alone.
Transitioning to a New Business Model: Mrs. Gwen Hair & Accessories
In June 2023, Mrs. Gwen celebrated over 14 years in the lace wig industry. However, it was time to shift her focus to an exit strategy for her business. Mrs. Gwen is rebranding her company as DBA Mrs Gwen Hair & Accessories, This process is taking longer than expected since she's been operating under The Boss Hair since 2013. Changing the DBA is signaling a shift away from lace wig installations. This proved to be a challenging transition, as many customers only trusted Mrs. Gwen to install their wigs. This kept her tied to her salon for years. To change her business model, Mrs. Gwen needed to change her mindset. This led her to expand her online reach by selling on Amazon and other platforms. By doing so, Mrs. Gwen can now generate revenue without having to stand on her feet all day.
